Royal dates can be a smart snack for work or school and travel. They are suitable for all people but are a particularly dried fruit ideal for vegetarians. Their natural sweet taste makes them an excellent substitute for crystalline sugar, so you can often use them in pastry recipes, cereal bars, biscuits or cakes and smoothies. Of course, you can use them to naturally sweeten your yogurt instead of honey! In cooking, their uses include adding nuts and rice or quinoa to salads as well as risotto or pilaf (ideally with nuts).
The dates contain about 70% natural sugars, mainly fructose and glucose in equal proportions, making them a rich source of energy. The remaining 20% is occupied by proteins, fiber and various micronutrients such as potassium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. Also, dates contain small amounts of B-complex vitamins and are a rich source of fiber, mostly insoluble.
Basil dates have been used for many medicinal purposes from gastrointestinal problems to fever, edema and bronchitis. They also appear to have cardioprotective action and appear to have potential benefits against various forms of cancer.
