Χαμομήλι

Το χαμομήλι είναι ένα από τα πιο δημοφιλές και ευεργετικά βότανα με πολλές θεραπευτικές ιδιότητες.

Το χαμομήλι είναι ποώδες φυτό, ο γένος περιλαμβάνει περί τα 70 είδη το γνωστότερο των οποίων του είναι η Chamomilla recutita ή Matricaria chamomilla, ελλ. Χαμαίμηλον το κοινόν ή Ματρικαρία το χαμαίμηλον. Αυτό το είδος φύεται και στην Ελλάδα όπου είναι γνωστό με τα ονόματα χαμομήλι, χαμόμηλο, και στην Κύπρο είναι γνωστό και ως μουγιόχορτο.

Το χαμομήλι έχει ηρεμιστικές, αντιφλεγμονώδεις, καταπραϋντικές, τονωτικές αλλά και αντισηπτικές και εντομοκτόνες ιδιότητες. Δρα επίσης κατά των αερίων των εντέρων.Επίσης, μειώνει τα επίπεδα σακχάρου στο αίμα, αντιμετωπίζει διάφορα δερματικά προβλήματα, ανακουφίζει από πονοκεφάλους και ημικρανίες, χαλαρώνει και καταπολεμά την αϋπνία.

Το χαμομήλι είναι γνωστό για την καταπραϋντική του δράση σε ερεθισμένες επιδερμίδες ή σε σημεία με εκζέματα καθώς και για την ανακούφιση που προσφέρει όταν χρησιμοποιείται ως κομπρέσα.
